My name is R. Talha Üstün.

I was born in Zeytinburnu in 1995, and when I was 8 years old, my family took me to the capital of Tatarstan, which is part of Russia. That’s where I first met Russian.

I continued with the Russian curriculum until I studied Mechanical Engineering at Marmara University. I was introduced to Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky at a very early age. 🤷🏾

Influence of aviation on my life

At the age of 13, I discovered aviation and decided to become a pilot. While completing my training at the THY Academy, misfortune struck, and I had to abandon the process due to thyroiditis. Still, I gained tremendous experience along the way. Later, my career intersected with aviation once again. I was there when HÜRJET and KAAN made their maiden flights.

Career and ventures
  • At 15, I started earning a little money during the summer months working as a sales assistant in tourism, and I continued working as a cashier at Zara during college. Earning pocket money kept my mind at ease.
  • Engineering internships were very beneficial; I worked alongside Tarhan Telli at TT Custom Choppers and as a salesperson at Armada Yazılım.
  • Companies where I worked as a regional sales and marketing manager for Central Asia: ROKETSAN, MKE, TUSAŞ
  • Around 2016, I realized my fascination with watches and joined collector communities in Istanbul. I occasionally found rare watches and shared them with friends.
  • While doing great work at TUSAŞ, I worked on an air taxi venture called SkyHub with two partners as part of an internal entrepreneurship program.
  • I am currently working on The Defense Business, a global defense industry artificial intelligence business intelligence SaaS, and a defense industry-focused language model.
